CDC Vows to Resist Eviction from Party Headquarters, Citing Lack of Official Notice

By Archie Boan

Congo Town, Monrovia — Tension is mounting in Congo Town as members of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) have vowed to resist any attempt by police to evict them from their party headquarters, citing the absence of an official eviction notice.

Speaking through a press conference at CDC party headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia, CDC Chairman Atty. Janka Kowo expressed shock and dismay over what he described as a politically motivated attempt to forcefully remove them from a property they have occupied for two decades.

You can’t evict our party headquarters without sending us an eviction notice,” Atty Kowo stated. “We have only been hearing and seeing Facebook posts that the court has ruled in the case, but we have not been issued any eviction notice.”

The party insists that it remains a legal tenant of the property and is entitled to due process under the law. “The CDC is a legal tenant, so you can’t remove us illegally. Even if we had been issued an eviction notice, by law they should have given us some time to get our things out of the vicinity,” the chairman added.

The CDC has called the situation abrupt and unfair, especially given the party’s long-term occupancy of the premises. “We can’t spend twenty years somewhere and you just want to remove us from the place in one day. This case is politically motivated,” Kowo concluded.

Law enforcement presence has increased around the party headquarters as tensions rise. As it stands, all eyes are fixed at the CDC headquarters to see the outcome of their press conference.
