” Ansu Kolleh, a resident of Mamba Point Central Monrovia, aged 28, has been apprehended for the theft of property belonging to the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC).
During the early hours of August 18, 2025, at approximately 3:57 a.m., Mr. Kolleh was arrested and detained by night patrol officers of the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) while in the act of removing a manhole cover at the corner of UN Drive and Mamba Point.
The MCC patrol officers subsequently transferred Mr. Kolleh to the Security Department of the LWSC on August 19, 2025, who then reported the incident to the Liberia National Police (LNP).
During the LNP’s investigation, Mr. Kolleh confessed to the crime and identified the purchaser of the manhole cover as Mr. Aramah Dassen, a scrap dealer in Monrovia.

Mr. Dassen was also arrested by the LNP. However, following several nights in detention, the LWSC agreed to accept restitution for the stolen manhole cover.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, both Mr. Kolleh and Mr. Dassen, through the LNP, made a cash payment of USD 250 to LWSC, for the stolen manhole cover, after which Mr. Kolleh was released.
The LWSC urges the general public to report any individuals caught stealing or purchasing its operational materials to the nearest police station.
The Corporation has also implemented several strategies to enhance night patrols at designated sites across its service zones.”
