Monrovia — The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has announced a significant step toward monetizing digital content creators in the country, following high-level discussions with representatives of Meta held earlier Tuesday , January 27, in Nigeria.
According to an LTA release, Chairman Clarence Massaquoi led the meeting as part of a national push to enable Liberian content creators to earn revenue from their work on global digital platforms. The engagement marks the first formal meeting between the LTA and Meta on the issue.
The Authority described the talks as encouraging, noting that initial indications point to progress. The release emphasized that careful and deliberate steps are being taken to ensure Liberian content creators are eventually integrated into the global monetization ecosystem.
“For years, content creators across Liberia have been calling for monetization opportunities in order to benefit financially from their craft,” the release stated.
The announcement has been welcomed by many content creators, who have expressed excitement and optimism about the development. Several described the news as a positive improvement for Liberia’s entertainment and digital media industry, saying it could open doors for creativity, job creation, and economic empowerment.
While no timeline was provided, the LTA said discussions will continue as part of a broader effort to create an enabling environment for Liberia’s growing digital and creative sector.
