Guinean National Arrested with Narcotics Valued at Over LRD 12 Million in Cape Mount

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested an 18-year-old Guinean national in Grand Cape Mount County for alleged illegal possession and transportation of narcotics valued at more than LRD 12 million.

According to the LDEA, the suspect, identified as Bubakar Jalloh, a resident of Caldwell in Montserrado County, was apprehended on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 6pm. The arrest was carried out by officers of the agency’s Grand Cape Mount County detachment during a routine search operation at the Bo-Waterside Port of Entry.

Authorities said Jalloh was en route to Monrovia when officers intercepted a blue, red, and white Toyota mini bus bearing license plate number BA-6936. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 480 packs of Tapentadol and Tramadol allegedly concealed inside.

The confiscated narcotics have an estimated street value of LRD 12,666,654, equivalent to approximately USD 66,666.60, the agency disclosed.

The LDEA said the suspect is currently undergoing investigation and will be formally charged and forwarded to court. Under the amended drug law of the Republic of Liberia, illegal possession of narcotics is considered a non-bailable offense.

The agency has meanwhile called on members of the public to assist in combating drug trafficking by reporting suspicious activities through its hotlines: 0777-133-333 and 0888-133-333.

The LDEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations at border points and across the country as part of ongoing efforts to curb the influx and distribution of illegal drugs.
