Suspended for Wrong Reason? LACC Concludes Probe, Clears Ex-NAFAA Chief of Criminal Liability

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has cleared former National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA) Director-General Emma Metieh Glassco of criminal allegations linked to an investigation into a World Bank-funded fisheries project, bringing a significant development to a case that had drawn national attention.

Madam Glassco, who was suspended from her post by President Joseph Boakai amid the probe, was under review in connection with alleged irregularities surrounding the implementation of the internationally funded initiative. The project, supported by the World Bank, had come under scrutiny as part of broader accountability measures in the fisheries sector.

In its findings, the LACC concluded that there was no sufficient evidence to establish criminal wrongdoing against the former NAFAA head in relation to the matter.

Glassco was appointed to lead the fisheries authority by former President George Weah during his administration. Her tenure at NAFAA had drawn public attention in recent months following the launch of the investigation and her subsequent suspension.
