HHHI Donates Medical Supplies to JFK and Redemption Hospitals

The humanitarian organization Helping Hands Humanitarian International (HHHI) has donated a substantial consignment of medical supplies to two of Liberia’s major public health facilities: John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia and Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town.

The initiative is part of HHHI’s ongoing effort to support the country’s healthcare sector.

The donations, delivered in separate rounds, included personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential items intended to bolster frontline medical staff and improve patient care.

At JFK, HHHI provided 30 packs of disposable polypropylene (PP) gowns, 30 boxes of face masks, four boxes of surgical masks, five packs of gloves, three cartons of laboratory goggles, 9,792 disposable cups, eight cover gowns, two under pads, polyethylene gowns, 100 face shields, eight surgical hats, and five jars of germicidal alcohol.

Redemption Hospital received 20 packs of disposable PP gowns, 18 boxes of face masks, four boxes of surgical masks, three packs of gloves, one carton of goggles, 6,528 disposable cups, six cover gowns, and two under pads, polyethylene gowns, 80 face shields, five surgical hats, and three jars of germicidal alcohol.

Speaking at the presentation, HHHI Liberia Coordinator Valerie Faith Koko described the donations as part of the organization’s commitment to community support and public health strengthening.

“This organization was founded in 2021 by Minister Evelyn G. Sorbor,” It is a humanitarian initiative established to assist less privileged groups across the country,” Ms. Koko said.

She acknowledged the organization’s limited resources but emphasized its continued dedication to healthcare support.

“For now, we don’t have external support,” Ms. Koko explained. “But we have been donating medical items to Redemption Hospital, John F. Kennedy Medical Center, and other hospitals in Montserrado County. We hope to see more partners joining our efforts.”

Ms. Koko also stressed the importance of broader collaboration.

“We are seeking partnerships with other organizations that align with our vision,” she said. “Most of all, we need government support to strengthen our reach and impact more communities in need.”

Maria J. Morris, representing Redemption Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation while highlighting ongoing operational challenges, including high patient volumes and limited medical supplies.

“On behalf of the OB ward, we say thank you for this great initiative,” a Redemption Hospital representative said. “You came here before, and I told you that we need more help because Redemption looks like a dumpsite compared to other medical centers.”

The Madam Morris noted that the donated supplies, while helpful, would be quickly depleted due to high patient demand.

“These materials will not last even four days,” the representative said. “But little is much when God is in it.”

Officials at JFK Hospital shared similar sentiments, describing the contribution as timely and vital.

“These supplies will address immediate needs in key departments,” a JFK representative said. “Public hospitals continue to face resource constraints, so every donation helps significantly.”

Liberia’s public health sector has long struggled with funding gaps, supply shortages, and infrastructural limitations, making private and nonprofit support critical to maintaining essential services.

For HHHI, these latest donations form part of a broader humanitarian mission to assist vulnerable populations and promote partnerships that strengthen Liberia’s healthcare system.

“Our goal is to make an impact, even if it is small. With partnership and support, we believe we can do much more for our people,” Ms. Koko said.
