Iran Halts Traffic Through Strait of Hormuz After Israeli Strikes on Lebanon

By Morlu Freeman

Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been brought to a standstill after Iran announced the closure of the కీల waterway, citing ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Iranian state media reported that the move came in direct response to a wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting positions in Lebanon, escalating tensions across the region.

The shutdown follows shortly after a fragile ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, which had included provisions to reopen the vital shipping route. However, renewed violence has disrupted those plans, with Iranian authorities halting the passage of oil tankers and other vessels.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, handling a significant share of global oil shipments. Its closure is expected to raise concerns over international energy supplies and further heighten instability in the Middle East.
