Former Assistant Foreign Minister Amb. Karishma Pelham-Raad has taken up a new role in the private sector as Stakeholder Engagement and Investment Coordination Specialist for the Saint Paul 2 (SP2) Hydropower Project under the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).

The position is part of a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at expanding Liberia’s renewable energy capacity and improving national electricity supply.

In a statement announcing her appointment, Pelham-Raad said she is “honored” to join the project, describing it as an opportunity that reflects years of experience in public service, diplomacy, and strategic engagement.

She noted that her role will involve coordinating investment efforts and engaging key stakeholders, including government institutions, development partners, investors, and local communities, to support successful implementation of the project.

The SP2 Hydropower Project is expected to play a significant role in advancing sustainable energy development in Liberia, with anticipated benefits including improved electricity access, economic growth, and expanded opportunities for citizens.

Pelham-Raad expressed optimism about the project’s impact, saying it represents an important step toward national development and energy transformation.

She also pledged commitment to ensuring effective collaboration among all partners involved in the initiative.

The appointment marks a transition from public diplomatic service to a development-focused role within a major infrastructure project backed by international partners.

The Liberia Electricity Corporation has been working with development partners, including the World Bank, to implement energy projects aimed at strengthening the country’s power generation and distribution systems.
