Former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) stalwart Isaac Doe has publicly challenged the Liberian government’s claim that it has imported 285 earth-moving yellow machines for nationwide road construction and maintenance.
In a social media post, Doe accused the administration of engaging in propaganda and questioned the accuracy of the reported number of machines.
“This lying Government can NEVER bring 285 pieces of yellow machines in Liberia,” Doe wrote. “If any Unity Party supporter can carry a camera wherever yellow machines are kept and count 285 pieces of those, I’ll give you US$200.”
The former deputy minister urged supporters of the ruling Unity Party to independently verify the government’s claim, insisting that the number announced does not reflect the reality on the ground.
“Save my post. Use it as your reliance and do your best,” he added. “When will our small UP friends finally get fed up with this government? How many times will propaganda use you, folks?”
The challenge comes amid the announcement of the arrival of a fleet of earth-moving equipment that the government says will be distributed across Liberia’s 15 counties to improve road connectivity and support infrastructure development.
As of press time, the government had not responded to Doe’s remarks. The administration has repeatedly maintained that the machines were procured as part of its efforts to enhance road construction and maintenance nationwide.
