Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue says he is the political “godfather” of Grand Gedeh County. “My reelection is a must.” Will Grand Gedeh crown Zoe as “The Modern Tubman” of Grand Gedeh?
“My people love me. I am the godfather of Grand Gedeh County. I have built schools, donated cows, given money to students, paid WAEC fees, and supported mothers with baby supplies. My reelection is a must,” Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue of Grand Gedeh County asserted.
A Quick Review of Zoe’s political history:
1) 2005 Representative Election (D2):
Zoe Emmanuel Pennue (Ind.): 5,044 votes (57.90%)
2) 2011 Representative Election (D1):
Zoe Emmanuel Pennue (Ind.): 5,851 votes (57.07%)
3) 2017 Representative Election (D1):
Zoe Emmanule Pennue (Ind.): 8,499 votes (55.74%)
4) 2020 Midterm Senatorial Election (GG):
Zoe Emmanuel Pennue (CDC): 8,228 votes (40.4%)
Zoe’s four-time political victory proves his connectedness to his people and his strength in the context of local politics. The longtime Southeastern politician will be ending 24 years as a lawmaker in 2029. Will Grand Gedeans give him another 9-year mandate in 2029 to make him the longest-serving Lawmaker (33 years)?
Who will challenge Zoe in 2029? As history rolls on, Zoe has sent a clear message to all would-be Senatoral aspirants that he is undefeatable. In fact, he is the political “godfather” of Grand Gedeh. Can his political “godfatherism” be upended? Only a few days after October 9, 2029 can tell.
But if history remains constant as it were in 2005, 2011, 2017, and 2020, then Zoe could return to Capitol Hill after October 9, 2029. If Zoe wins in 2029, he would have surpassed Tubman’s 27 years in office.
Note: While still serving as a Representative, Zoe only lost in the 2014 Midterm Senatorial Election to Marshall Dennis.
