The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) has inducted a new team of officers to lead its Grand Gedeh County Detachment, a move officials say is aimed at improving fire prevention and emergency response services across the county.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, Region Four Commander Chris K. Dweh urged the newly appointed officers to work closely with the Joint Security and local authorities to strengthen the operations of the Fire Service in Grand Gedeh.
Commander Dweh said cooperation, professionalism, and community involvement will be key to responding effectively to fire emergencies and protecting lives and property.
For years, many residents of Grand Gedeh have voiced concerns about the limited presence and capacity of the Fire Service in the county. Since the end of Liberia’s civil war, several homes, businesses, and public buildings have been destroyed by fires, often with little or no firefighting support available.
Residents have repeatedly called on the government to improve firefighting services and establish a stronger operational presence in the county.
During the ceremony, newly inducted County Commander Major Titus Nyantee acknowledged those concerns and assured residents that improvements are on the way.
He said citizens should expect to see a stronger and more active Fire Service presence within the next four months, including better emergency response and increased community outreach programs.
Major Nyantee also called on residents to work with fire service personnel and support efforts aimed at preventing fire outbreaks through public awareness and safety measures.
The appointment of the new leadership team comes as residents continue to look for real improvements in firefighting capacity and emergency response services throughout Grand Gedeh County.
