Dr. Speare Blasts ‘Greedy Politicians,’ Calls for New Leadership in Margibi

MARGIBI COUNTY – Dr. Henric Marcus Speare, proprietor and founder of St. Paul Ecumenical High School, has criticized what he described as “greedy politicians” in Margibi County who are unwilling to relinquish political power and create opportunities for emerging leaders.

Speaking on a local radio station in Margibi County during celebrations marking his 58th birthday anniversary on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Dr. Speare stressed the importance of leadership transition and youth inclusion in governance.

“Leaders need to give people a chance. One person can’t keep serving throughout their life,” Dr. Speare said.

The prominent educator, who previously contested in Margibi County’s District #2 Representative race and emerged among the leading contenders, disclosed that he has no intention of seeking elected office in the future.

“I will not run for any elected office anymore. I will give mentorship and serve my people in the private space,” he stated.

Dr. Speare emphasized the need for older politicians to make way for younger leaders, arguing that fresh ideas and perspectives are necessary for the county’s development.

Calling on veteran politicians to step aside, he said, “This is their era,” referring to the younger generation.

The doyen educator noted that he intends to focus on mentoring young people and contributing to community development through private initiatives rather than active politics.

His remarks come amid growing discussions about leadership succession and youth participation in politics across Margibi County.
