Ambulance Still Not Serving Patients

By Patrick Teah

More than six months after an ambulance was donated to Grand Kru County by District #1 Representative Hon. Nathaniel Bahway, the vehicle has yet to be used for emergency medical services.

Speaking Tuesday, on June 9, 2026, Dr. Craig explained that the ambulance was intended to strengthen emergency response and improve patient transportation across the county. However, it remains parked because it has not been fully equipped to handle medical emergencies.

He noted that critical items such as a ventilator, patient stretcher, first aid kits, and other emergency medical supplies are missing, making it unsafe to transport patients.

“An ambulance is not just a vehicle. It is a mobile emergency unit that must be properly equipped to support patients on their way to treatment,” Dr. Craig said.

The Health Officer cautioned that using the ambulance in its current condition could put patients at risk instead of saving lives.

While acknowledging Representative Bahway’s contribution to the health sector, Dr. Craig emphasized that the priority is to ensure the ambulance is fully equipped so residents can benefit from its intended purpose.

The situation raises concerns about emergency healthcare delivery in Grand Kru County, where residents continue to face challenges accessing urgent medical transport.

Health authorities are now calling on Representative Bahway to equip the ambulance and put it into active service for the benefit of the people of Grand Kru.
