ANC Demands Transparent Probe Into US$19.2 Million Drug Bust

MONROVIA – The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has called for a swift, independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the recent seizure of narcotics valued at approximately US$19.2 million in Liberia.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, June 16, the opposition party said Liberians deserve full disclosure regarding the circumstances surrounding the massive drug bust, including how the drugs entered the country and who facilitated their movement.

The ANC also urged authorities to determine who was responsible for screening and oversight at the point of entry and called on the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and airport authorities to immediately disclose the names of all individuals connected to the case, regardless of political affiliation.

“The Liberian people deserve answers,” the party stated, emphasizing the need for accountability at all levels.

The ANC further warned against any effort to shield influential individuals, suppress evidence, or politicize the investigation.

The statement comes amid growing public concern following one of the country’s largest reported drug seizures, as authorities continue investigations into the alleged trafficking operation.
