“Liberia Needs Action, Not Speeches,” Kolubah Blasts Boakai

MONROVIA – Former Montserrado County District #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, has criticized President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s recent address to the nation on the over US$19 million cocaine seizure, arguing that Liberia needs action rather than speeches.

In a statement issued Tuesday evening — minutes after president Boakai addressed the nation — Kolubah said the country is “not suffering from a shortage of speeches” but from a lack of concrete action in addressing major national concerns, particularly the fight against drug trafficking.

Responding to the President’s pledge that “Liberia is not open for the business of drug trafficking,” Kolubah questioned the government’s handling of the case, asking why the public has waited so long for clear answers regarding the massive drug bust.

He also challenged the administration to demonstrate that no individual is above the law by ensuring that all persons linked to the case, regardless of their political status or connections, are investigated and prosecuted.

Kolubah further called for independent scrutiny of Roberts International Airport, security agencies, and all institutions connected to the operation, stressing that accountability must extend beyond lower-level officials.

The former lawmaker said the drug case represents a major test of the Boakai administration’s credibility, adding that Liberians are looking for transparency, regular updates, and tangible results rather than promises.

“History will remember whether this government had the courage to expose everyone involved, regardless of their name, status, or political connections,” Kolubah said.
