Rep. Foko Alleges Senior Government Officials Linked to Drug Trafficking

By Archie Boan

MONROVIA – Montserrado County District #9 Representative Frank Saah Foko has alleged that senior government officials are connected to drug trafficking in Liberia following the recent seizure of narcotics valued at more than US$19 million.

Speaking at the Capitol Building, Foko criticized the decision by House leadership to discuss the matter in executive session rather than in public, arguing that Liberians deserve transparency on an issue affecting the country’s future.

The lawmaker claimed that allegations surrounding the drug shipment point to the involvement of high-ranking officials and accused the Executive Branch and House leadership of being aware of the situation. He further alleged that some senior government officials were involved in transporting drugs into the country.

Foko also questioned the role of security institutions assigned to monitor activities at the airport and called for answers regarding how the drugs entered Liberia.

The representative’s remarks come amid growing public debate over the massive drug seizure and ongoing investigations by state authorities.

The allegations made by Foko have not been independently verified, and no official response from the Executive Branch or House leadership was immediately available.
