FISH-TOWN, River Gee County – Fear and growing concern have gripped residents of Country Town Community in Fish-Town following the discovery of a second unidentified body in Neezenmhn Creek within one week.
The latest incident occurred early Wednesday, June 17, when the body of an unidentified man, believed to be in his early 40s, was found floating face down in the creek near the county capital.
According to eyewitness Prince Doe, 26, the discovery was made around 7:15 a.m. while he was heading into nearby bushes.
“I saw what looked like a body in the water and immediately ran back to alert others,” he said. Community members later confirmed the report.
Local authorities, including River Gee County Coroner Jerry Kear, the Fish-Town City Authority, and community leaders, retrieved the remains from the creek. The body was displayed publicly for identification, but no relatives or residents came forward. It was later buried near the site.
The incident follows a similar discovery on Friday, June 12, when a newborn baby boy was found floating in the same creek by young men who wash motorcycles in the area. That case also remains unresolved, with no family reporting a missing child.
The two incidents have sparked widespread alarm and renewed calls for investigation. Residents are urging the Liberia National Police and health authorities to determine the identities of the deceased and whether the deaths are connected.
Elderly resident Jestina Quayee described the situation as disturbing, calling for urgent intervention by authorities.
At the time of publication, no cause of death has been established and officials have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected. Investigations are ongoing.
