Senate Committee Tours LMTI Facility, Promises Balanced Report on Concession Concerns

MONROVIA, Liberia – The Senate Joint Committee investigating concerns surrounding Liberia Traffic Management Incorporated (LMTI) has toured the company’s facility as part of efforts to conduct a balanced assessment of issues affecting the concession, including complaints about defective vehicle license plates.

Speaking after the tour, Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr., who chairs the committee, said the visit was mandated by the Senate Plenary following reports that some license plates issued under the concession had become warped, raising concerns among vehicle owners.

According to Senator Moye, the inspection was intended to provide lawmakers with firsthand information and ensure a fair and informed report to the Senate.

“We felt it was necessary to inspect the facility so that we can coordinate everything and report in a balanced manner, allowing all stakeholders to have a clear understanding of what is happening,” he said.

Moye noted that the facility showed evidence of active operations and infrastructure development but stressed the need to address deficiencies in the concession arrangement to ensure it meets public expectations.

He emphasized that the Senate’s intervention is not aimed at challenging the legality of the concession agreement but at ensuring compliance and resolving implementation issues.

The senator disclosed that LMTI and relevant government agencies are working toward a memorandum of understanding to address identified concerns. The committee’s findings will be submitted to the Senate Plenary, which will forward recommendations to the Executive Branch.
