Information Minister, Hon. Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, says the Sorlumba Border Dispute between Liberia and Guinea remains unresolved, contrary to media reports suggesting that the matter has been settled.
Speaking during the Minsitry of Information’s Thursday Press Briefing, Minister Piah clarified that his statement on ELBC recently didn’t suggest that the issue has been resolved.
According to him, all the Government can report currently to the public is that the Border is calm and not an inch of Liberia’s territory is being tempered with.
Minister Jerolinmek Piah noted that his statement on ELBC is being misconstrued by some media institutions, emphasizing that he didn’t mean to say the matter has been totally brought to a closure.
It can be recalled during Minister Piah’s appearance on ELBC Monday, June 22, 2026, he stated that the Border is calm, peaceful and residents are doing their normal activities.
He further stated that Liberia has taken charge of its territory while Guinea has also withdrawn from the previous occupied portion of Liberia’s territory and back to its land.
