Former Representative of Montserrado County District #8 Acarous Moses Gray has predicted that former President George Weah and the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) will win Liberia’s 2029 presidential election with an outright first-round majority.
Gray expressed confidence that the CDC would return to power and hand the ruling Unity Party a decisive defeat.
“We will give the Unity Party a cataclysmic defeat, marked by a political bloody nose in 2029. We will fight them with our bare hands in a manner and form that they shall become defunct after a first-round absolute majority victory by the mighty CDC. May God bless the works of our hands and save the Nation State Liberia,” Gray said.
His comments come as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2029 general elections, even though the polls remain several years away.
The statement is one of the strongest public declarations from a senior CDC figure since the party moved into opposition following the 2023 elections that brought in president Joseph N. Boakai.
A longtime ally of former President Weah, Gray has remained one of the CDC’s most outspoken voices.
He has consistently criticized the Unity Party-led government while urging party supporters to remain united as preparations for the next elections gather pace.
The Unity Party has not responded publicly to Gray’s latest remarks.
Liberia is scheduled to hold its next presidential and legislative elections in 2029, when voters will elect a president and members of the National Legislature.
