By Morlu F. Freeman Sr.

VOINJAMA CITY, LOFA COUNTY – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), through its Board of Tax Appeals (BOTA), on Monday conducted a one-day workshop in Voinjama City to educate taxpayers, business owners, and other stakeholders on their rights and the procedures for resolving tax-related disputes.

Held at the William V. S. Tubman County Hall under the theme, “Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights and the Appeal Process,” the workshop sought to enhance public understanding of Liberia’s tax administration and strengthen confidence in the country’s tax dispute resolution mechanism.

The workshop featured presentations on the mandate and functions of the Board of Tax Appeals, delivered by the Board’s Comptroller, Cllr. David M. Kolleh Jr. Participants were also briefed on the role of the Liberia Revenue Authority in tax collection and received an overview of the tax appeals process available to individuals and businesses seeking to challenge tax-related decisions.

The event brought together representatives of business institutions and organizations from across Lofa County, as well as officials from the Office of the City Mayor and the Office of the County Superintendent.

Participants praised the Liberia Revenue Authority and the Board of Tax Appeals for organizing what they described as an informative and timely workshop. They said the training improved their understanding of taxpayers’ rights and the legal avenues available for resolving tax disputes.

They further encouraged the LRA to continue conducting similar public awareness programs across the country to promote voluntary tax compliance, transparency, and greater public understanding of Liberia’s tax system.
