MONROVIA – The Management of the National Port Authority (NPA) has announced the immediate conversion of all contract workers to permanent employees, describing the move as a historic workforce reform.
The announcement was made on July 22 during a general workforce meeting at the Freeport of Monrovia. Speaking virtually from the Port of Le Havre in France, NPA Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly praised employees for their dedication and resilience, stating that the institution’s success is driven by its workforce.
According to Dukuly, the decision ends years of uncertainty for contract workers who had served the institution while awaiting permanent employment. He assured employees that the transition would not affect their current salaries or benefits, adding that newly regularized workers would now enjoy the full benefits available to permanent staff.
The Managing Director also announced that future salary increases would be based on performance, attendance, and productivity.
Meanwhile, Human Resource Executive Director Vashti Sirleaf said management will strictly enforce the NPA’s 10-day attendance policy and warned that employees who report to work without carrying out assigned duties will face administrative action.
The NPA described the regularization of all contract workers as one of the most significant employment reforms in the institution’s history, reaffirming its commitment to investing in its workforce.
