LAA Procures Nine New Vehicles to Boost RIA, Spriggs Payne Operations

MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) has procured nine brand-new operational vehicles aimed at strengthening efficiency, airport safety and security, and service delivery at Roberts International Airport (RIA) and James Spriggs Payne Airport.

The new fleet comprises two MGR-S5 jeeps assigned to the Port Managers of RIA and James Spriggs Payne Airport, along with seven Isuzu pickup trucks designated for key operational departments, including Airport Security, Compliance, Electrical, Base Support and other critical units.

LAA Managing Director Hon. Ernest R. Hughes said the acquisition addresses longstanding transportation challenges that have affected the Authority’s ability to effectively conduct security, airside operations, fire and rescue services, monitoring and emergency response.

Hughes said the vehicles will improve response times, inspection patrols, operational coordination and compliance with international aviation safety and security standards.

Receiving the vehicles and accompanying documents, Deputy Managing Director for Administration Hon. John Z. Buway thanked the LAA management and Board for the investment.

RIA Port Manager Hon. James K. Mulbah described the acquisition as timely, particularly as RIA advances efforts toward full aerodrome certification.

LAA Board Chairman Hon. Nyah Mantein urged users to properly maintain the vehicles and ensure they are used strictly for their intended operational purposes.
