Monrovia – Officials of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) are expected to face legal battle over allegations of brutality.
The anticipated legal tussle comes in the wake of Magic Group CEO Mamudu S. Dabor claims, noting of being affected by excessive force from LDEA agents resulting in a legal pursuit against the institution.
Businessman Mamudu S. Dabor, Chief Executive Officer of Magic Group of Companies, issued threatened legal action against Director Kromah and his deputy, Hassan Fadiga, citing alleged harassment by officers of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
Addressing the media in Monrovia following a viral video podcast depicting the purported brutal treatment of his employees by LDEA agents at the Royal Grand Hotel in Sinkor, Dabor recounted his ordeal.
He asserted that he had responded to a summons from LDEA Director Col. AB Kromah for a meeting at the hotel, only to encounter excessive force and baseless accusations of involvement in illicit drug activities.
Dabor clarified that he had received a phone call from Col. Abraham Kromah regarding drug-related matters, to which he vehemently denied any involvement.
According to him, Despite his protestations of innocence, LDEA authorities insisted on his presence at the Royal Grand Hotel to address the allegations.
In an effort to substantiate his innocence, Dabor said he opted to bring a small group of his employees to the meeting with the LDEA officials.
Expressing dismay over the alleged mistreatment, Dabor condemned the actions of Col. Kromah and his deputy, describing their behavior as unprofessional and unwarranted.
However, in response to the allegations, Col. Kromah refuted Dabor’s claims, stating that the meeting at the Royal Grand Hotel was unrelated to LDEA matters.
He explained that upon his arrival at the venue, he was taken aback by the sizable entourage accompanying Mr. Dabor, which he perceived as intimidating. Feeling uneasy, Col. Kromah and his deputy, Fadiga, called for LDEA agents to ensure their safety in the face of the perceived threat.
The conflicting narratives between Dabor and the LDEA officials highlight the complexity of the situation, raising questions about the nature of the meeting and the actions taken by both parties involved.
