Rivercess County Health Team Launches 2026 Mass Drug Administration Campaign

CESTOS CITY, Rivercess County — The Rivercess County Health Team has officially launched its 2026 Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign in Cestos City, aimed at preventing and eliminating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) across the county and Liberia at large.

The campaign, launched on October 22, 2026, is being conducted under the national theme: “Join the Effort to Prevent and Eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases in Liberia.”

Launching the initiative on behalf of the County Health Officer, Mr. Isaac O. Garkpee, Director of the Community Health Department, urged residents to take full advantage of the exercise and cooperate with community health workers deployed in their areas.

Mr. James K. Flomo, the county’s NTDs Focal Person, underscored the significance of the drive, disclosing that the 2026 exercise marks the 19th consecutive round of mass drug administration conducted in Rivercess County.

According to Flomo, the campaign is scheduled to run for at least 10 days, beginning October 22, as medical teams work to reach vulnerable populations across all districts.

The County Health Team is encouraging community members to share accurate awareness messages and adhere to public health guidelines regarding dosage eligibility—paying special attention to screening protocols for children, pregnant women, and individuals battling severe illnesses.

Health authorities remain optimistic that sustained community participation will significantly advance national public health goals in eradicating neglected tropical diseases.
