MONROVIA, Liberia — Criminal Court E is scheduled to hear final legal arguments in the case of Republic of Liberia versus Peter Bon Jallah, who is facing charges of gang rape, statutory rape, and kidnapping.
The proceedings were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, marking a critical stage in the trial as both the prosecution and defense prepare to present their closing arguments.
During the trial, the Government of Liberia presented 13 general witnesses and six rebuttal witnesses in support of its case against Jallah.
The defense, meanwhile, presented eight general witnesses and three subpoenaed witnesses as part of its effort to respond to the prosecution’s allegations.
Thursday’s hearing is expected to provide both sides an opportunity to summarize the evidence presented during the trial, address the court on the legal issues involved, and make their final arguments before the court determines the next stage of the proceedings.
The charges against Jallah remain allegations unless and until established in accordance with the law. The outcome of the case will depend on the court’s consideration of the evidence and applicable legal standards.
