The Agricultural and Industrial Training Bureau (AITB) has launched a two-day training workshop for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) administrators and instructors aimed at improving the quality of vocational education across Liberia.
The workshop brings together educators and administrators from various TVET institutions to strengthen their technical, administrative, and teaching skills.
According to AITB, the training is intended to help improve the delivery of vocational education and ensure that institutions are meeting national standards.
A key focus of the workshop is the process of obtaining competency licenses through the bureau, a requirement aimed at promoting professionalism and accountability within the sector.
Participants are being trained on assessment procedures, certification standards, regulatory requirements, and other conditions needed to obtain nationally recognized competency credentials.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, AITB Director General Abraham Billy said the bureau is committed to improving standards in vocational education and training.
“We want our instructors and administrators to have the right skills and qualifications to provide quality training,” Billy said. “Strong institutions produce skilled graduates, and skilled graduates contribute to national development.”
He said competency certification will help strengthen confidence in vocational training programs and better prepare graduates for employment opportunities.
Billy also announced that AITB will soon begin licensing TVET institutions operating across the country.
“The licensing process will ensure that institutions are operating according to established standards and providing quality training,” he said.
He warned that institutions that fail to meet the bureau’s requirements could face regulatory action.
The Director General said the move is intended to improve the overall quality of vocational education and ensure that training institutions are producing graduates with the skills needed in the workforce.
