GBARNGA, Bong County — A group of concerned members of the Bong County Community Radio Network (BOCORNET) has announced the impeachment of the network’s top three officials, citing alleged financial mismanagement, constitutional violations, and ineffective leadership.
In a statement issued by member stations, the group said the decision was based on provisions of BOCORNET’s amended constitution of April 12, 2025. The members argued that the leadership, elected on May 24, 2025, had failed to perform its constitutional responsibilities, warranting impeachment under Article 9, Section 10.1.1.
The impeachment affects BOCORNET President Samuel Dorweh, Vice President Uriah Mitchell, and General Secretary Winston Polornore.
According to the statement, the officials are accused of misappropriating and misapplying the network’s funds, failing to convene the General Assembly following their election and induction, and spending organizational funds without authorization from the membership.
The concerned members further alleged that the leadership organized a workshop in 2025 without the knowledge or approval of the General Assembly, failed to account for a reported US$12,000 provided to the network by the Bong County Administration, and did not report on the funds either to the county administration or to member stations.
Additional allegations include the failure to establish constitutionally mandated standing committees, failure to keep member stations informed about the network’s activities, unauthorized withdrawal and disbursement of funds, disrespect toward members and county authorities, failure to maintain a database of member stations, and failure to present an annual operational plan for members’ endorsement.
The group said the leadership’s actions had left the county’s umbrella organization for community media institutions inactive and ineffective.
As part of the resolution, the impeached officials have been given a two-month ultimatum to submit comprehensive financial reports and hand over all BOCORNET properties in their possession. The members warned that failure to comply would result in legal action.
The statement also called on the public, development partners, and the Bong County Administration to refrain from conducting any official business with the impeached officials on behalf of BOCORNET until the matter is resolved.
The impeached officials had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
