CDC Loyalist Sayekain Apologizes to VP Koung, Seeks Reconciliation

By Emmanuel M. Kangar, Jr.

Nimba County — A prominent loyalist of Edith Gongloe-Weh, Winston W. Sayekain, has publicly apologized to Vice President Jeremiah Koung, seeking forgiveness and pledging renewed support.

In a statement to citizens of Nimba County, Sayekain admitted his past actions contributed to division and were based on misinformation about the Vice President. He expressed regret, noting that his decision followed over a year of reflection and family consultations.

Sayekain disclosed that he recently met Koung in Monrovia, describing the encounter as “historic” and commending the Vice President’s willingness to forgive. He stressed that Koung had done him no wrong and that his apology was sincere.

Addressing public speculation, Sayekain rejected claims that his reconciliation was driven by a desire for a government position, insisting his actions were guided by conscience and the broader interests of Nimba County and Liberia.

He called on political actors and citizens to embrace unity and work collectively for development. Sayekain also acknowledged local leaders who facilitated the reconciliation, urging continued efforts to bridge political divides for the county’s progress.
