CMC Appoints Karneh Acting Secretary General in Push for Youth Leadership

By Archie Boan

The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) has announced the appointment of Adihamu G. Karneh as its Acting Secretary General, a move the party says signals a renewed focus on youth leadership and institutional strengthening.

In a statement released Tuesday, the party described the appointment as a “decisive step” toward advancing its vision for national transformation and reinforcing its internal leadership structures.

Karneh, a native of Grand Cape Mount County, brings experience in political administration, communications strategy, and digital innovation.

According to the CMC, he has worked with government institutions, development partners, and civil society organizations on issues including governance systems, youth empowerment, and inclusive participation.

Party officials say the leadership change reflects a broader generational shift within the organization, aimed at positioning younger leaders at the forefront of decision-making.

Beyond his professional background, Karneh is also active in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he has held several youth and governance roles. He currently serves as Secretary General of the Sons of Allen at Eliza Turner Memorial AME Church, underscoring what the party describes as his commitment to service and values-based leadership.

As Acting Secretary General, Karneh will be responsible for coordinating party strategy, strengthening institutional processes, and overseeing day-to-day operations as the CMC seeks to expand its national presence.

Speaking on the appointment, the party’s political leader described it as “a defining moment,” adding that Karneh represents “the discipline, vision, and innovation that Liberia needs at this critical time.”

The CMC said the move also sends a message to young people across Liberia that they must play a central role in shaping the country’s future, rather than remaining on the sidelines of national leadership.

Karneh is expected to focus on improving internal coordination, strengthening communication with citizens, and supporting the party’s broader agenda of promoting accountability and effective governance.

The Citizens Movement for Change reaffirmed its commitment to building a system where leadership delivers results and opportunities are accessible to all, expressing confidence that Karneh’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the party.
