The presiding Judge of Criminal Court ‘C’ Osuman F. Feika has postponed proceedings in the case involving former Deputy Minister and Chief of Protocol Nora Finda Bondo, with arguments on a motion to justify her bond now scheduled for Thursday, June 25.
The matter is currently before Assigned Circuit Judge Feika in its 37th day jury sitting.
The case was filed by the Republic of Liberia through the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT) and the Ministry of Justice against Bondo and several others accused of money laundering, theft of property, misuse of public money, criminal conspiracy, forgery and criminal facilitation.
Both prosecution and the defense counsels were presence during Tuesday’s proceedings before the matter was postponed.
Bondo’s legal team, led by Cllr. M. Wilkin Wright and Cllr. Abraham W. Simpson, later expanded to include Cllr. James M. Kumeh and Cllr. Dexter A. Tiah.
The prosecution team included AREPT Chairman Cllr. Edwin K. Martin, alongside Cllr. Jerry D.K. Galawallo, Cllr. Augustine Tepleh, Cllr. Tommy Dougha, Cllr. Peter Kerkula, Cllr. Wellington Bedell and Attorney Suzanne A. Johnson.
Defense lawyers requested that the court qualify three sureties, Cllr. Abraham W. Simpson, Rev. Fayiah Falambo and Mrs. Tina Falambo, to testify in support of the bond filed on behalf of the defendants.
The defense as asked the court to order the qualification of movants’ sureties to enable them to take the stand and testify in justification of their sureties to the bond tendered by the defendants.
Following consultations between lawyers for both sides, Judge Feika decided to halt the day’s proceedings and reschedule the matter.
“Following consultation of the lawyers from both sides, that is to say counsels for Movant and counsels for Respondent, this court hereby suspend the hearing for today and orders this matter reassigned for Thursday, same being June 25, 2026 at the hour of 9:00AM,” the judge ruled.
The court further held that since all parties were present, the minutes of the proceedings would serve as official notice of the new hearing date.
Arguments on the motion to justify the sureties are expected to resume when the case returns to court on Thursday.
