Liberia – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Thomas Fallah has called on officials and partisans of the ruling Unity Party to remain humble and reconnect with ordinary Liberians amid growing public dissatisfaction over governance and economic hardships.

Speaking at the NIMBO Headquarters on May 16, 2026, Fallah warned government officials against arrogance and urged them to remain accessible to the people whose votes brought them to power.

“Unity Party, if you want to be like some of the comrades today, remember when we started, soon morning, the man them did not want to bring their glasses down,” Fallah said. “Now you are in the driver’s seat, bring your glasses down. Bring your wings down.”

The Deputy Speaker stressed that political power ultimately rests with the Liberian people and cautioned party members against becoming disconnected from struggling communities.

“The decision is in the hands of the Liberian people,” he stated. “When the Liberian people decide, you will be in the community again.”

Fallah urged government officials and party supporters to return to communities, ghettos, and slum areas to directly engage citizens and address their concerns.

“Go back in the slums. Go back in the ghettos. Go back in the communities. Work for the people. Work for the government,” he emphasized.

He also warned that officials who fail to support the administration and respond to the needs of citizens could face replacement.

“If you don’t do that, we will call your name that you are not helping the government. If we have to replace you, we will replace you,” Fallah declared.

The Deputy Speaker further acknowledged growing frustrations among ordinary Liberians, noting that many citizens continue to struggle under difficult living conditions.

“Our people are complaining. They are crying,” he said.

Fallah’s remarks come amid increasing public debate over the performance of the administration of President Joseph Boakai, particularly on issues relating to the economy, employment, and living conditions.
