Prominent Liberian engineer Muniru Nyei has criticized the government over delays in completing the road project leading to Roberts International Airport (RIA), alleging that a reported conflict of interest is hindering administrative action.
In a statement, Nyei questioned why the project, which he described as less than 50 kilometers long and without major engineering challenges, remains unfinished after three years.
He argued that issues involving construction contracting, project oversight, mismanagement, and work scheduling should have been addressed within six to 12 months of the current administration taking office.
Nyei also challenged the government’s infrastructure development messaging, warning against raising public expectations without the capacity to deliver.
“You have zero case against CDC on this project,” he stated, arguing that the prolonged delay weakens criticism of the previous administration over the project.
His conflict-of-interest allegation has not been independently verified.
