Herbalist Claims Responsibility for Alleged Ritual Killing of Motorcyclist in Grand Bassa

By Hogkins Tokpah

A self-proclaimed herbalist, identified as Saah Quetamo, has reportedly confessed to receiving US$500 to carry out a ritual process that allegedly resulted in the death of motorcyclist Marcus Kardyu on May 5 in Grand Bassa County.

According to Quetamo’s statement while in police custody, he was contacted by a man identified as Mr. Freemen, who claimed that the victim owed him money and had refused to pay. Quetamo alleged that he was instructed to “draw” the victim in a mirror for a spiritual attack.

He further claimed that he charged US$500 for the act and received an advance payment of US$300. Quetamo stated that after preparing what he described as a mirror drawing of the victim, he handed a knife to the client, who allegedly struck the image.

In his account, Quetamo bizarrely claimed that the act triggered lightning which struck and killed Marcus Kardyu in the physical world.

Police have not independently verified these claims, but confirmed that Quetamo is currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the motorcyclist’s death. Authorities are also expected to trace and question the alleged client, Mr. Freemen.

The case has drawn public attention in Grand Bassa amid calls for a thorough and scientific investigation into the incident.
