Cestos City, Rivercess County – The Assigned Judge for the May 2026 Term of Court at the 14th Judicial Circuit Court in Rivercess County, A. Blamo Dixon, has issued a strong warning to jurors, stating that any individual found engaging in misconduct during court proceedings could face up to thirty days imprisonment in a common jail cell.
Speaking during the formal opening of the May Term of Court in Cestos City, Judge Dixon described jurors as vital arms of the court whose responsibilities are central to the delivery of justice.
According to him, once jurors are selected and examined by the court, they become judges of the facts in every case brought before them. He emphasized that the duty of jurors is protected and recognized under both the 1986 Constitution and the historic 1847 Constitution of Liberia.
Judge Dixon stressed that jurors must conduct themselves with honesty, neutrality, and integrity throughout the trial process, warning that any form of misconduct or interference with court proceedings would not be tolerated.
“Any juror found wanting or involved in acts unbecoming during court proceedings will be dealt with in keeping with the law,” Judge Dixon cautioned.
The judge also warned members of the legal profession against attempting to influence jurors, describing jury tampering as a serious offense that undermines the credibility of the justice system.
He maintained that any lawyer caught interfering with jurors or attempting to manipulate court proceedings could face immediate discharge from the matter before the court.
Judge Dixon’s warning comes as the May 2026 Term of Court officially opens in Rivercess County amid expectations of several important criminal and civil cases expected to be heard during the term.
