River Gee County | May 13, 2026 | The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, River Gee County detachment, has intensified its fight against illegal drugs following the arrest of two suspected drug traffickers during a series of anti-narcotics operations conducted across the county between May 8 and May 10, 2026.

The operations, spearheaded by County Commander, Special Agent Bill M. Cooper Jr., form part of the agency’s ongoing nationwide campaign aimed at curbing the growing spread of narcotics and substance abuse, particularly among young people in local communities.

According to the LDEA, 34-year-old Emmanuel Blawon was apprehended over the weekend after officers allegedly discovered 20 scripts of Tramadol in his possession in the county capital Fish-Town.

Authorities estimated the street value of the seized narcotics at approximately L$140,000, describing the confiscation as one of the county’s significant recent drug interceptions.

In a separate operation carried out in Tienpo Nyonken, officers arrested 20-year-old Fred S. Barwee after he was allegedly found in possession of kush, 15 wraps of marijuana, and one pill of Tramadol.

The confiscated substances were valued at approximately L$4,200.

Combined, the total estimated street value of the drugs seized during the operations over the weekend stands at L$144,200.

LDEA officials confirmed that both suspects are currently being held in custody and are expected to be forwarded to the Fish Town City Magisterial Court, where they will face prosecution and further legal proceedings in accordance with Liberia’s drug laws.

Speaking following the arrests, Commander Cooper reaffirmed the agency’s determination to dismantle illegal drug networks operating within River Gee County and across Liberia.

“The LDEA remains committed to protecting communities from the dangers associated with illegal drugs and substance abuse,” Commander Cooper stated.

“We will continue pursuing individuals involved in drug trafficking and related criminal activities.”

He further called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement authorities by reporting suspicious activities linked to the sale, transportation, and distribution of narcotics within their communities.

The latest arrests underscore the LDEA’s continued efforts to strengthen anti-drug enforcement measures as concerns grow nationwide over the increasing circulation of dangerous substances, including Tramadol, kush, and marijuana, especially among vulnerable youth populations.

Authorities say the agency will continue conducting regular intelligence-led operations aimed at reducing the availability of illegal substances and ensuring safer communities throughout Liberia.
