The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the 2024 fiscal year’s revenue target, initially set at $690 million by the National Legislature. With $692 million verified and an additional $10 million undergoing reconciliation, the total revenue collected is poised to exceed $700 million, marking a historic achievement for the nation.
Commissioner General Dorbor Jallah announced the news during a press conference held at the LRA headquarters in Paynesville. Jallah hails the accomplishment as a testament to resilience, commitment, and collaboration among all parties involved in revenue mobilization. Jallah emphasizes the pivotal role played by taxpayers, whose compliance and dedication were instrumental in achieving this unprecedented success.
“Across all fifteen counties, you have demonstrated professionalism and innovation, which have been driving forces behind this success,” Jallah stated, acknowledging the collective efforts of individuals and entities that contributed to the revenue surge. The Commissioner General also praised the invaluable support provided by government ministries, agencies, and international partners, underscoring their roles in realizing this financial breakthrough.
Looking ahead to 2025, Jallah underscored the importance of maintaining the momentum achieved in 2024. He urged stakeholders to enhance compliance efforts and ensure taxpayers fulfill their obligations through timely and accurate payments. To this end, the LRA plans to leverage digital tools to simplify tax processes and improve efficiency. Jallah encouraged the public to embrace these forthcoming platforms to make tax compliance more convenient and practical.
The Commissioner General also stressed strong partnerships with local, national, and international entities, including the media, as critical to sustaining and exceeding current revenue achievements. “Transparency and accountability in every aspect of revenue administration must remain our guiding principles,” Jallah affirmed.
While celebrating the 2024 revenue milestone as a testament to collective action and shared responsibility, Jallah reminded Liberians that the LRA’s work is far from complete. He called for continued collaboration and innovation to build a self-reliant and prosperous Liberia capable of meeting its citizens’ needs.
“Together, we can build a nation equipped to achieve even greater milestones,” Jallah concluded, urging all stakeholders to rally for new records and benchmarks in the coming year.
