Ministry of Labour Launches Vacation Job Program for Students in Lower Margibi

Lower Margibi – Hundreds of students converged at the Lower Margibi County Office of the Ministry of Labour in Harbel City on Tuesday following the official announcement of the 2026 Vacation Job Program aimed at providing temporary employment opportunities for students during the school vacation.

The announcement was made by the Labour Commissioner for Lower Margibi County, Johnson Quaqua, during a local radio broadcast on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Commissioner Quaqua disclosed that the annual vacation employment initiative will accommodate 250 in-school students, each earning a minimum monthly salary of US$150. He added that the program will run for two months, giving students an opportunity to gain practical work experience while earning an income during their school break.

According to the Ministry of Labour, recruitment for the program started from Monday, July 13 through Friday l, July 17, 2026, at the Ministry’s Lower Margibi County Office during regular business hours.

Interested applicants are required to present a valid school identification card or proof of enrollment, along with any additional supporting documents that may be requested by the Ministry.

Just a day after the radio announcement, hundreds of students were seen gathering at the Labour Commissioner’s office in Harbel City to obtain and complete application forms, reflecting the high level of interest in the program. Many students expressed hope of being selected among the 250 successful applicants, describing the initiative as a timely opportunity to earn money while acquiring valuable workplace experience.

The Ministry said the Vacation Job Program is designed to support students by exposing them to real working environments and helping them develop practical skills that will prepare them for future employment.

Commissioner Quaqua encouraged all eligible in-school students in Lower Margibi County to apply before the recruitment deadline and urged applicants to ensure they submit the required documents.
