The District 9 Youth Summit (DYS 2026) Organizing Committee has officially released its Concept Paper ahead of the inaugural District 9 Youth Summit scheduled for May 16, 2026, in Montserrado County under the theme, “Unmasking Youthful Capabilities for National Solutions.”
According to the organizers, the summit is a youth-driven initiative aimed at empowering young people across Electoral District 9, which includes 21 communities stretching from 12th Street to Fish Market. More than 100 young participants are expected to attend the event, which will focus on leadership development, innovation, and civic engagement.
Speaking during the release, Vision Bearer and Lead Convener Lawrence Y. Mulbah Jr. described the summit as a transformative platform intended to unlock the potential of young people and position them as active contributors to Liberia’s development.
He noted that unemployment, limited access to opportunities, and inadequate platforms for youth participation continue to affect many young Liberians, stressing that the summit seeks to address those challenges through dialogue, collaboration, and leadership training.
Planned activities include panel discussions, youth dialogue forums, networking sessions, and the development of youth-led action plans for community development.
Organizers say the summit is expected to strengthen partnerships among youth organizations, promote civic responsibility, and encourage innovative solutions to socio-economic challenges affecting communities.
The Organizing Committee also disclosed that the estimated budget for the event is US$2,300 and appealed to development partners, sponsors, and stakeholders to support the initiative.
