“FROM THE DESK OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL
UNITY PARTY – MONTSERRADO COUNTY CHAPTER
May 4, 2026
OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The Office of the Secretary General of the Unity Party Montserrado County Chapter has taken note of a Facebook publication by Punch FM attributing to me the statement:
“A major reason that most Unity Party partisans who were in the trenches have not been given jobs is because they lack the qualifications and expertise….”
Let me state clearly: Unity Party partisans across Liberia and in the diaspora, including our vibrant youth, are among the most educated, competent, qualified, committed, capable, and resilient citizens of our nation. Their sacrifices and contributions to our democratic journey are deeply respected.
At no point would I make a statement that mocks or diminishes the dignity of our partisans, especially those who are currently without employment. That is neither my character nor the values of our Party.
The employment challenges facing many of our partisans reflect broader national economic realities, which the Unity Party-led government is actively working to address through sustained reforms and opportunities for inclusive growth.
I acknowledge that the publication does not fully reflect the context of my remarks, and I regret any misunderstanding it may have caused. I extend my sincere apologies to our partisans and supporters.
I will appear on the Punch FM Breakfast Show on Tuesday, May 5, at 8:00 AM to further clarify my remarks and set the record straight.
We remain committed to unity, respect, and advancing opportunities for all.
Signed:
Amos Kollie
Secretary General
Unity Party, Montserrado County Chapter”
