Liberia National Fire Service Breaks Ground for First Substation in Schefflin Township

Margibi County — The Liberia National Fire Service has officially broken ground for the construction of its first-ever substation in Schefflin Township, marking a significant step toward improving emergency response services in the area.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Saturday behind the township’s administrative building in Schefflin Town, was led by Superintendent OJay Morris and Commissioner Richmond A. G. Fleming II, along with other government officials and community leaders.

The event drew a large gathering of residents from across the township, as well as stakeholders from different parts of the country, highlighting the importance of the project to national development and public safety.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Fleming described the initiative as a major milestone for the Fire Service and the people of Schefflin. He emphasized that the substation will enhance the Service’s ability to respond quickly to fire outbreaks and other emergencies in the growing township.

Construction of the facility is expected to begin immediately, according to officials.

Commissioner Fleming also expressed appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for supporting the initiative. He noted that the President’s vision is centered on building a transformed Liberia where citizens can feel safe and proud of their country.

He called on local leaders and residents of Schefflin Township to support the project, stressing that community involvement will be key to its successful completion and long-term impact.

The planned substation is expected to significantly improve fire safety infrastructure in the township and surrounding communities.
