Senator Moye Slams Rep. Bility Over Development Allegations, Says Bility Lacks Fundamental Understanding of Legislative Governance

“The Chairmanship involves collaborating with stakeholders in both legislative houses and the financial sector to manage revenue trends, maintain balanced public wages, adjust civil servant salaries responsibly, and ensure fair resource allocation for regional and national projects,” the statement read.

Senator Moye’s office highlighted the commitment to Bong County while stressing that prioritizing one region over others would be fiscally irresponsible. Infrastructure development, including roads and bridges, has been a national priority, with proceeds from the Road Fund utilized countrywide under his leadership.

The office also pointed to challenges in Bong County’s development, notably the failure of China Union to remit over $10 million in social development funds owed since 2015. The petroleum storage facilities operated by China Union, associated with Rep. Bility, have generated over $42.7 million, yet the company remains delinquent in its financial obligations. According to Senator Moye’s office, political shielding by Rep. Bility and past regimes has allowed this to persist, effectively hindering development efforts in Bong.

“In this context, Rep. Bility is not contributing to the development of Bong County, he is obstructing it. And the people of Bong are fully aware,” the statement said.

Addressing Rep. Bility’s background as former President of the Liberia Football Association, Senator Moye’s office called on him to embrace fairness and transparency, urging the representative to honor his financial responsibilities to Liberians and clarify his dealings both domestically and internationally.

The office further tied Rep. Bility’s criticism to opposition against a Senate decision to adjust petroleum storage fees at the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC). This measure, supported by Senator Moye, aims to generate funds for rural development and social programs.

“The adjustment benefits the people. It channels resources to towns and villages that need better roads, bridges, and social programs,” the statement noted. “Opposition to this measure reflects misplaced priorities.”

Senator Moye’s office encouraged Rep. Bility to focus on addressing longstanding allegations of corruption rather than engaging in politically charged rhetoric. The statement underscored that development is a shared responsibility among various stakeholders and not the sole duty of any one individual.

Senator Moye, a three-term elected official with a record of delivering tangible results in infrastructure, health, education, security, and economic inclusion, reaffirmed his dedication to Bong County and Liberia’s overall progress.

“Development is not a show. It is a service,” the office concluded. “Rep. Bility’s attempt to rush into political prominence at the expense of truth and integrity is regrettable. Leadership grows through cooperation and honesty, not inconsistency and ambition.” the statement added.
