Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. has no place to criticize anyone’s character, given his own notorious history. The 2003 audit report from the European Union and MGI Monbo and Company during his time as Speaker and Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company laid bare allegations of significant corruption.
These reports claim he embezzled or misappropriated between $1.1 million and $1.3 million, funneling money from public petroleum funds into personal offshore accounts in Lebanon—costing Liberia crucial royalty revenues.
In April 2007, the Liberian government hit Snowe with charges of “Theft of Property,” but shockingly, the legal proceedings against him and former Transitional Chairman Gyude Bryant ended in failure or dismissal. It’s hard to forget the impact of his actions, as sourced from
As if to distract from his own failings, Snowe continues to engage in reckless public criticism.
Recently, he tried to tarnish the Honorable Vice President’s reputation over harmless photos with supporters, dragging the VP into the ongoing investigation of a $19.2 million USD drug bust at the RIA without any credible evidence. We remember all too well: while he was busy scamming people, VP JKK was working hard to build his business career as a teenager.
And let’s not ignore Snowe’s behavior.
He’s faced accusations of undressing young Liberian women for $1,000 and abuse of minors below 18, even going so far as to record them. Yet he dares to throw derogatory remarks at fellow officials, like his childish jab at RREL boss Samuel Nagbe, calling him a “drunkard” and suggesting he tone down his drinking. This type of behavior from a senior public figure is completely unacceptable and should be condemned by all Liberians.
