UL President Assures Students: No Fee Hike Next Semester

By Archie Boan

The President of the University of Liberia, Layli Marpayan, has clarified that the institution will not increase student fees now or during the next academic semester.

Speaking on her radio program, Dr. Marpayan dismissed concerns about an immediate tuition hike, assuring students and the public that no fee increment is being considered at this time.

“As I said last week and this week on my radio show, we are NOT raising student fees now or next semester,” she stated.

However, the UL President stressed the need for broader discussions on how the university can address growing operational costs while improving academic standards and campus facilities.

Dr. Marpayan noted that achieving the kind of university students and stakeholders desire will require dialogue and collective decision-making on possible funding strategies.

Her comments come amid concerns among students over reports of a potential increase in fees at the state-run institution.
