Nimba County – Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has cautioned appointed government officials against neglecting citizens in their communities, warning that poor electoral performance in their hometowns could jeopardize their chances of retaining government positions after the 2029 elections.
Speaking during an honoring and appreciation program organized by residents of Yarwin Mehnsonoh in Nimba County, the Vice President said President Joseph Nyuma Boakai expects officials to make meaningful contributions to the development of their home areas.
“To those appointed government officials, do not be mean to citizens. The President is always saying that if you can’t make an impact anywhere, make an impact in your hometown,” Koung stated.
He further warned that the administration would assess voting results following the 2029 elections.
“If you are a government official and receive zero votes from your hometown, the President will not retain you,” he declared.
The Vice President’s remarks underscored the administration’s expectation that public officials remain connected to and supportive of the communities from where they originated.
