Assistant Foreign Minister for Public Affairs, Hon. Saywhar Nana Gbaa, has issued a sharp response to remarks attributed to former President George Weah, escalating tensions between the two public figures.
In a strongly worded statement, Gbaa questioned what she described as inconsistencies in the former president’s narrative regarding personal benefits and financial standing. “Can you tell your audience that the sick man sent you brand new cars as your entitlement? How come his own entitlement turned to charity from you?” Gbaa said.
He further criticized what he characterized as sudden changes in the former president’s claims about his financial status. “One minute you were rich, another 24 hours you were poor—I can’t comprehend your inconsistencies,” he added.
Gbaa also expressed frustration over what she perceived as personal attacks directed at him, concluding his remarks with a direct rebuke.
Political observers note that such exchanges reflect ongoing tensions within Liberia’s political landscape, as public officials and former leaders continue to engage in increasingly public disputes.
