Bong County — The Civil Service Agency (CSA), in collaboration with the Bong County Administration, on Friday broke ground for the construction of a North-Central Regional Headquarters in Gbarnga, a project aimed at improving access to government services in Bong, Lofa, and Nimba counties.
Speaking at the ceremony, CSA Director-General Josiah F. Joekai Jr. described the project as a major milestone in the government’s decentralization agenda. He said the regional office will provide payroll, recruitment, and personnel management services, reducing the need for civil servants to travel to Monrovia for administrative matters.
“For too long, civil servants have had to travel to Monrovia to address salary and human resource concerns. Those services must now be delivered here with dignity and professionalism,” Joekai said.
He also disclosed that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has directed the CSA and its partners to pursue a comprehensive salary reform initiative aimed at promoting equal pay for equal work across government institutions.
Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. welcomed the project, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening local governance and implementing the objectives of the 2018 Local Government Act. He noted that decentralizing government services would improve efficiency and accessibility.
Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris praised the initiative as a practical demonstration of the government’s commitment to bringing services closer to citizens.
Upon completion, the regional headquarters is expected to serve thousands of civil servants across the three counties and enhance public service delivery in the region.
