Newly appointed Maryland County Superintendent Nathaniel S. Toe Jr. arrived in Maryland County on Thursday, July 2, 2026, ahead of his official induction, receiving a heroic welcome from hundreds of citizens, local government officials, and supporters from across the county.
Superintendent Toe was warmly received by statutory superintendents, district commissioners, city mayors, township commissioners, town chiefs, youth and women groups, elders, and other prominent stakeholders, all of whom gathered to celebrate his arrival.
A colorful motorcade and parade marked the occasion as residents lined major streets waving and cheering in support of the county’s new leader. Welcoming ceremonies were held in three major locations across Maryland County.
The first stop was Karloken City, where large crowds gathered to welcome Superintendent Toe and his delegation. The entourage then proceeded to Pleebo City, where enthusiastic youth and residents lined the streets, singing and dancing to express their excitement over his appointment. The tour concluded in Harper City, the county capital, where another impressive crowd turned out to receive the Superintendent.
Speaking during the welcoming ceremonies, several stakeholders described Toe’s appointment as a significant step toward advancing the development agenda of Joseph Boakai’s administration in Maryland County. They expressed confidence that his leadership would usher in renewed development, improved governance, and better public service delivery for the people of the county.
Maryland County Youth President Melvin Weah said the appointment has restored hope among young people and residents, adding that many citizens believe Superintendent Toe’s leadership will create more opportunities for youth participation and community development.
Pleebo City Mayor Larry Geekor also praised the appointment, noting that Superintendent Toe’s previous service and commitment to Maryland County have earned him the trust and confidence of the people.
In his remarks upon arrival, Superintendent Toe thanked citizens for the overwhelming welcome and pledged to prioritize development throughout his administration.
He emphasized that development—not politics—would define his leadership and challenged residents to collectively assess the county’s progress in the coming years. He noted that by 2034, Maryland County will mark 20 years of progress in its modern development journey, stressing the need for accelerated growth to match the county’s aspirations.
Superintendent Toe outlined key priority areas for his administration, including education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment, sports development, and community welfare.
He called on all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to work together in building a stronger and more prosperous Maryland County.
The Superintendent is expected to be officially inducted in the coming days as he assumes leadership of the county’s administration.
