Rep. Marvin Cole Alleges US$20 Million Siphoned, Questions Reported US$12 Million GT Bank Debt

MONROVIA, Liberia — Bong County District #3 Representative Marvin Cole has alleged that more than US$20 million has been siphoned from legislative funds, while questioning a reported US$12 million debt owed to GT Bank.

Cole accused members of the Legislature of misusing public funds, describing those involved as criminals and demanding accountability.

He claimed that the House of Representatives alone could not account for US$4 million and said he had written GT Bank requesting the publication of records identifying those responsible for the reported US$12 million debt.

“Now, GT Bank is saying that we owe them US$12 million. It is confirmed. This is credible information,” Cole said, questioning how the Legislature incurred the alleged debt.

He also criticized the reported US$75 monthly salaries of some legislative staffers, contrasting their earnings with Liberia’s US$1.2 billion national budget.

The allegations, including the figures cited, have not been independently verified. Responses from the House leadership and GT Bank were not included in the information provided.
