MONROVIA, Liberia – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Thomas P. Fallah has publicly apologized to Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, retracting comments he made during a recent appearance on the SpoonTalk online platform.
The apology follows a communication submitted to the House by Jacob Debee, who requested the retraction and investigation of a public statement attributed to the Deputy Speaker during the June 28, 2026 broadcast.
In a written statement, Fallah said he had been informed through the House’s agenda of the communication regarding his comments and clarified that his remarks about Speaker Koon were made “in good faith” and without any intention to “mislead, malign, or undermine” the Speaker. He formally retracted the statement and extended what he described as his sincere apology.
Fallah further emphasized that he and Speaker Koon have shared a longstanding personal relationship that existed long before their leadership positions in the House of Representatives. He said he deeply values that relationship and has no desire to do anything that would damage the mutual respect and friendship they have built over the years.
The public apology comes amid heightened attention to relations within the leadership of the House of Representatives, as lawmakers continue to navigate internal differences while conducting the business of the Legislature. Fallah’s retraction is expected to ease tensions surrounding the controversy sparked by his earlier remarks.
